Verathon Medical® - Mission & History

Print

Verathon Medical® designs, manufactures and distributes reliable, state-of-the-art medical devices and services that offer a meaningful improvement in patient care to the health care community.

Gerald McMorrow, electrical engineer and Vietnam veteran, founded the company in 1984 and has led the company throughout its transformation from a small start up to a profitable international corporation.

The company's flagship brand, BladderScan® bladder volume measurement instruments, is used in Urology, Acute Care, Primary Care, and Extended Care and is considered a standard of care. Non-invasive and easy to use, the BladderScan® prevents unnecessary urinary catheterisations, reduces rates of urinary tract infection, and helps diagnose urinary-related problems such as enlarged prostate (BPH).

Verathon Medical® expanded its product portfolio with the acquisition of Saturn Biomedical Systems and the GlideScope® Video Laryngoscope (GVL®) brand in January 2006.

Verathon Medical® has been ranked among the fastest growing technology companies in Washington State in Deloitte's prestigious "Technology Fast 50" program every year since 2005. The company is headquartered in Bothell, Washington and has approximately 450 employees worldwide.
